O'Grady grew up in Wheaton, Illinois and attended Wheaton North High School in 1981. She is the daughter Jan O'Grady (a financial planner) and Jim O'Grady. Her family raised her by their parents in Wheaton located in Illinois and graduated in 1981 with a diploma from the Wheaton North High School.
